The one thing i enjoyed most when planning my own wedding was the dress shopping! And when I visited Lisa's boutique, I was blown away by her service. She is so passionate about helping you choose the right dress, and makes the whole experience a real pleasure.
We visited Wedding Dreams by Lisa a few weeks ago, I swear I could live in her shop with all the sparkle & prettiness!
We thought it would be great to find out more about her boutique and how she started her business.
J&K: What year did you open your boutique?
L: I opened my boutique in October 2007
J&K: What made you open a wedding dress shop?
L: I opened my boutique a year after getting married myself, to my long time partner of 21 years. I must admit I found the whole experience a little over whelming and found that my budget of £500 restricted me a lot in my search for my dress, so I went on a mission to open my own boutique and offer what I was unable to find, along with a more one to one personal service.
J&K: Which designers do you stock?
L: I stock some amazing designers such as Romantica of Devon, as you well know Kerrie :) Pure Bridal, Ronald Joyce, Victoria Jane, Art Couture, Eternity Bride, Diane Le Grand White One and Phoenix Gowns as well as Linzi Jay and Nieve Designs for stunning accessories
J&K: Who’s your favourite designer?
L: I love all the designers that I stock as they all offer something different and unique each within their own range
J&K: What styles were big for 2015?
L: Lace was and still is very up there. Off the shoulder dresses were very popular for 2015, with soft tulle overlays and tiers of soft colours of golds and even blues and greys, high neck lines and illusional backs and illusional lace sleeves were very popular as was fishtail styles
J&K: Your prediction on styles for 2016?
L: Styles trending for 2016 are more daring plunging and illusional necklines and illusional back details. You will see a lot of 3d design, with flowered appliqués, and feathers will be making an appearance to the skirts and bodices, removable tulle skirt overlays and tiered skirt layers in fishtails and ballgown styles
J&K: Who would you have loved to style for their wedding day?
L: Goodness that's hard but I think everyone would want to style Kate! And my second choice would have to be Beyoncé, two very different yet both beautiful down to earth powerful women
J&K: What's your advice for brides for choosing their dress?
L: My advice for brides choosing their dress is have an open mind never out rule anything, try on different styles and fabrics. Try not to bring too many guests with you on your first dress visit, I always say 2 to 3 max, as too many different opinions can confuse your own decisions. Don't book more than two appointments in one day as this can become a bit over whelming, make sure your choice of dress is your choice and no one elses and the biggest and most important advice i will give is, enjoy your day!
J&K: Whats the best thing about your job?
L: Well Everything! I love it! I love meeting new people from all walks of life, I love choosing my collections, I love exhibiting at bridal shows, and most of all I love helping my brides make one the most important decisions of their life in choosing the most important and special dress they will ever wear. I work on my own so it is a very personal service as it's just myself, the bride and her closest guests in the boutique for her appointment and I always feel we make a connection and I love the fact that they put their trust in me in making sure they make the right decisions. In my 8 years in bridal I have been very lucky in meeting some wonderful people and i absolutely love my job with a passion.
