You're engaged, congratulations! Now you can start planning your wedding day, how exciting!
But where do you even begin to start planning your dream wedding? So many things to think about. Where will you marry? What dress will you wear? How many guests will you invite? So many questions already!
We are here to help you along the way. Here are our top three to start planning your perfect day.
First thing you need to book is your venue. Think about the photos you want to look back on in years to come…..do you want photos taking in open fields, then maybe consider a Country wedding like Hayley & Iain Always imagined looking back on your photos with the City as a backdrop? Then maybe consider a venue in the heart of London like our couple Jo & David Ask if it's big enough to accommodate all your guests, what time is the bar licensed up to, look at photos of what your ceremony could look like. Will you be having finger food, a buffet or a sit down meal – can they accommodate this? Is there room to add your own twist on decor if you so wish? Ask as many questions as you can think of! Get yourself a wedding planner if you feel overwhelmed, they are experts at planning weddings and not as expensive as you may expect! Read our blog here for more advice on booking a wedding planner.
Next you need to find your photographer. Do you want relaxed fun images? Or a more dramatic look? Do you like light and airy photos, or a darker moodier look? Do your research, have a set budget in mind, read reviews. Remember, a lot of good photographers will get booked over a year in advance, especially for popular summer dates, so book early to avoid disappointment. Ask how many weddings they have photographed, do they have back up equipment, who will be taking your photos on the day. Meet with your wedding photographer before the big day for a coffee, they will be with you for the whole of your wedding day so it's important you feel comfortable with them. Consider booking an engagement photo shoot with them if you are particular nervous in front of the camera, this will help you relax and know what to expect on your wedding day.
Thirdly, and some say most importantly, start searching for that wedding dress! We recommend taking one or two people along to try on your dresses, anymore than that you might get overwhelmed with opinions! Trust the assistant to choose styles you may never hav thought of, you may just fall in love with something completely different to what you had in mind. When you can't stop thinking about a particular dress, you know you have found the one!
Of course, some people plan their wedding over two years, others in six weeks (yes it happens!), and everywhere in between. Do what is right for you, enjoy the process and plan the wedding of your dreams. It's your story, do it your way.
