Bridal styled shoot- London

We have wanted to organise a styled shoot for a while now. As preferred wedding photographers at the Trafalgar Tavern in Greenwich, we knew the light in the impressive Nelson rooms and adjoining Ante room was just stunning and it would be perfect for a styled shoot! We wanted to really give future brides inspiration on the beautiful, timeless romantic photos they could create on their own wedding day. We started contacting vendors who matched our brand and we were so happy they all came on board to help create our vision, and ‘A Timeless Romance’ was born.

Our aim for our shoot was to create a timeless, modern romantic feel, with pretty pastel shades of mint, blush and fresh greens infused with rose gold.

We used the backdrop of the ceiling to floor windows of the Nelson rooms to create a modern romantic, light & airy feel to the photos, we began in the Ante room with stunning views across London. Our bride Charlotte wore Skye, a romantic Ivy & Aster gown, supplied by award winning London bridal boutique Heart Aflutter. With its floaty chiffon skirt and sheer back, it was perfect in adding a timeless modern feel to the shoot.

We captured some beautiful bridal portraits of the bride holding her bouquet, the flowers were focussed on lots of greenery, pastel shades including blush pinks and succulents. Our florist Laura of Grace & Violet is a lover of natural, unstructured designs, so the bouquet with it’s dramatic, arching fresh greenery and wild, British grown flowers really achieved this soft romantic look.

The foliage used was mainly beautiful berried eucalyptus to bring a lush, green look to the bouquet. A touch of baby blue eucalyptus and soft, silvery foliage was added to complement the lush greens, & soft pastel pinks and whites of the design. Large, blowsy, garden style roses in a romantic blush pink brought a soft feel to the bouquet and a large Cafe au Lait Dahlia front and centre was used to make a bold statement. As a huge supporter of British grown blooms, Laura added white Cosmos, a touch of Ammi and some white snap dragons sourced from a local flower farm to bring the natural, wild aesthetic that we were aiming for. Succulents were also sourced from the flower farm and used throughout the shoot. The bouquet was finished with trailing, blush pink, silk ribbon adding a timeless romantic touch to the overall design.

We wanted to keep our brides make up fresh and romantic, with that in mind our make up artist Mari of Chase Make up wanted to create a natural soft makeup look for our bride, enhancing her fabulous blue eyes with a romantic bridal hair style.

Light champagne was used on the lids by Urban Decay with soft hints of peach, warm brown in the crease. The eyes were lined with Bobbi Brown gel black eyeliner, finished with lashings of black mascara. A soft grey shadow to line the bottom lid gave some more definition and contrast to her blue eyes. Mari used Charlotte Tilbury’s light wonder foundation, Hour Glass ambient lighting to add a glow to the skin and finished by adding a flash of soft pink to the cheeks. Mari mixed a couple of lipsticks to achieve a romantic rosy pink. Charlotte’s hair was curled and pinned up in soft layers at the back to give a timeless, romantic look and finished with exquisite, British grown garden roses, complemented by delicate white and green clary sage foliage, in keeping with the wild aesthetic of the flowers used.

Our groom Sean complemented our brides timeless romantic look with a succulent buttonhole & navy suit, a classic colour for a London wedding. We used the grandeur of Greenwich for a few couple portraits, one of our favourite photos is capturing our bride & groom walking hand in hand enjoying their wedding day, and with the background of the river thames, we captured a timeless and romantic photo of our couple enjoying the day.

We moved onto the evening reception, we styled the top table by using a mix of berried and baby blue eucalyptus to create a lush green, foliage filled table runner, dotted with white dahlias, ammi and delicate clary sage for that wild look, alongside rose gold cutlery to add a touch of colour, and beautiful table settings & stationery. Our stationer Nicki of Betty Lou Design loves a cool, different venue so when she heard we were shooting at the stunning Trafalgar Tavern her ideas started flowing. With the location on the river and the London backdrop she wanted to bring a bit of edge to your traditional stationery, but still keep a soft romantic feel. Nicki is all about unique, organic textures so she decided to use acrylics in the pastel shades of mint, blush and fresh greens from the colour palette to create an elegant but modern design, which complemented the vibe we were aiming for. She added a gatefold holder for that extra touch of luxury and used a contemporary calligraphy font to give everything a modern twist.

The theme continued onto the table plan, which she created using a wooden frame and chicken wire, with each table hanging from a peg, eucalyptus, dahlias and succulents were used around the frame of the table plan for the final touches.

Nicki loves statement pieces, they can become a focal point for guests and even be a keepsake for the bride and groom after the big day. The bride and groom’s chairs were adorned with a touch of eucalyptus, tied with a soft, romantic blush pink ribbon.

We really loved the idea of a rose gold drip cake, we wanted our cake maker Anjuna of Sweet Fusion Cakes to create something that would capture the timeless, romantic feel of the shoot. This was done by creating a sweet centrepiece that was striking, yet pretty and romantic with a flavour to match.

The theme was captured in the flavour by baking a classic, timeless vanilla sponge, layered with lashings of mouth-watering strawberry buttercream. The white tiers were decorated with rose gold drips which softly flowed down the sides of the cake. Individual flowers, berries and leaves were hand crafted and wired together to create a delicate spray of sugar flowers. A large succulent took centre stage, drawing the eye to the soft, pretty surroundings created by the addition of blush and white roses, berries and blossom flowers.

We are so excited that our shoot was featured on Want That Wedding!! We want to thank everyone involved, not only did we create some beautiful images, we really had a lot of fun and learnt a lot about the other aspects of what goes into creating a beautiful wedding day. We hope you love the photos as much as we do.
